Organization Overview
What we are: The Chamber is an organization founded for the purpose of improving the business climate in Lufkin and Angelina County.
What we do: The Chamber exists to serve its members through the stimulation of economic growth and trade; through the education of the public in the role and purpose of business; through the support of activities which enhance the area’s quality of life; and as a catalyst for positive change in the community.
How we do it: To fulfill this MISSION, the Chamber is committed to developing a program of work which identifies community needs and seeks responsible solutions in operation with governments and other community organizations.
Intern Responsibilities
Job Description: To assist Chamber staff members with day to day operations, help promote Chamber events and functions, and encourage a healthy business environment.
Requirements and Qualifications: The intern must be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning with atleast 95 cumulative credit hours towards a degree.
Benefits and Opportunities: Great networking opportunities, get to meet Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and worked with a wonderful staff.
Achievements: Developed the Lufkin Groups and Organizations brochure and July tourism newsletter called Tourism Tidbits, increased calendar of events in Lufkin restaurants from 160 to 465, and gained valuable clerical experience.
