Organization Overview:
Founded in 1994, the Festival is the first organization of its kind to focus on the writer's unique creative contribution to the film and television industries. The AFF boasts a number of events and services for emerging and professional writers and filmmakers. Past participants include Robert Altman, Wes Anderson, James L. Brooks, Joel & Ethan Coen, Russell Crowe, Barry Levinson, Darren Star, Robert Duvall, Buck Henry, Dennis Hopper, Lawrence Kasdan, John Landis, Garry Shandling, Bryan Singer, Oliver Stone, Sandra Bullock, Harold Ramis and Owen Wilson.
Mission Statement: The Austin Film Festival (AFF) is dedicated to furthering the art, craft and business of writers and filmmakers and recognizing their contributions to film, television and new media. The AFF champions the work of aspiring and established writers and filmmakers by providing unique cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation, and encouraging dynamic and long-lasting community partnerships.

For fifteen years the Austin Film Festival has been dedicated to celebrating the art of storytelling through film. The AFF features a four-day conference, eight days of films and parties with one-of-a kind networking opportunities for filmmakers, screenwriters and film lovers.

Development Intern:
Job Description: Assistant to the Development Director. A typical day will include negotiating festival promotion for food trade with local restaurants, digging up any info you can on a potential sponsorship target, writing a marketing proposal for a local business, with time in there somewhere for vetting venues for one of our late night festival parties and updating our sponsorship database.
Job Requirements: People skills and time management skills are a must. Intern must be comfortable on the phone and a creative writer. Marketing/Sales Background Preferred, but not required.
Young Filmmakers Program Intern:
Job Description: Publicizing the Cinema/Television Camp. Research (and contact) schools and various organizations through which we can increase public awareness of the YFP. Research various organizations through which we can get money/sponsorship for the YFP. Brainstorming and putting into practice ways to expand YFP (screenings, increasing publicity for competitions, etc.) Mailings for YFP and Membership. Brainstorming ways to expand membership.
Job Requirements: Intern must be friendly, outgoing, patient, organized, and like kids!
Benefits and Opportunities:
- Interns receive a Conference Badge to the festival, which entitles the bearer admission to the Opening Night Party, Pitch Finale Party, Conference Wrap Party, the Exhibit Hall at the Driskill Hotel, all open Conference panels, and all films.
- The Internship is also a great opportunity to create and develop a network among distinguished writers and filmmakers, as well as other professionals in the marketing/development field.
